Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve and increase eye pressure. There are several types of glaucoma, including:
1. Open-angle glaucoma: The most common type of glaucoma, which usually has no warning signs in the early stages. Gradually, patchy blind spots in your side vision may develop. In later stages, difficulty seeing things in your central vision may occur.
2. Angle-closure glaucoma: A less common type of glaucoma that can cause severe headache, severe eye pain, nausea or vomiting, blurred vision, halos or colored rings around lights, eye redness, and sudden vision loss.
3. Normal-tension glaucoma: A type of glaucoma that causes optic nerve damage even though the pressure in the eye is not very high.
4. Childhood glaucoma: A rare type of glaucoma that occurs in infants and young children.
5. Secondary glaucoma: A type of glaucoma that occurs as a result of another eye condition or injury.
