Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which sends visual information from your eye to your brain and is vital for good vision. The damage to the optic nerve is often related to high pressure in your eye, but glaucoma can happen even with normal eye pressure. The symptoms of glaucoma depend on the type and stage of your condition. Initially, the condition remains asymptomatic, but the gradual progression may lead to symptoms such as loss of peripheral or side vision, seeing halos around lights and glare in bright light, redness in the eye, eye pain, eye that looks hazy (particularly in infants), narrow or tunnel vision, and vision loss.
