Glomerulonephritis is often caused by a problem with your immune system. Sometimes it’s part of a condition such as:
1. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
2. Vasculitis.
3. HIV.
4. Hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
5. Infection of the heart valves (endocarditis).
6. If you’re diagnosed with an inherited type of glomerulonephritis, a doctor can advise you about the chances of someone else in your family being affected.
