Chronic diseases are the disease that persists over a long period of time. Homoeopathy is known for curing chronic diseases from the roots and the basic principles on which it is founded have to be really followed for rational healing and curing. Hahnemann, the founder after having failed in curing several chronic cases, analytically and with a logical mind came to understand the reasons that were acting as obstacles in the process of cure of relapsing conditions and gave the world this theory of chronic diseases in the form of the book describe in detail their peculiar nature and cure. (1)
See lessChronic disease can hinder independence and the health of people with disabilities, as it may create additional activity limitations. People with chronic disease often think they are free from the disease when they have no symptoms.
In Aphorism 72 of organon of medicine, Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann defines chronic disease as “ they are those diseases which begin with small, often imperceptible way, dynamically deranging the living organism, each i8n its own peculiar manner, causing gradually to deviate from healthy conditions. At the commencement of the disease the vital force opposes but during progress, the resistance of vital force is imperfect, unsuitable, and useless and cannot extinguish the disease itself without the help of the specific remedy, but suffer until at length the organism is destroyed and these are called chronic diseases.”
They are generally caused by dynamic infection with chronic miasms.
Chronic disease is a disease that arises from chronic miasm having the following characteristics:
1. Gradual, insidious, imperceptible beginning.
2. Unlimited lifelong suffering.
3. Is not extinguished by vital force alone.
4. No tendency to decline or recovery, may continue through next generations unless treate4d by Homoeopathically.
5. Destroys the organism in the long run if untreated.

Known by many different names such as poison parsley, garden hemlock, and dog parsley, Aethusa cynapium is a toxic European weed often mistaken for its parsley look-a-like. Unlike the common herb grown in many gardens, however, this annual plant has dark green foliage with shiny, yellowish-green on its undersides. The plant’s flowers are also white rather than yellow. In addition, fool’s parsley, as it is also called, emits an unpleasant odor when bruised. This aroma is similar to that of the much more powerful and poisonous hemlock.
See lessThe plant is also grown in many parts of the United States and Canada, and in spite of its known toxicity, has a past history of use in folk medicine. As a sedative, the herb had been used in the treatment of sleep disorders. Since the plant affects the nervous system, remedies made from the herb were also used to treat convulsions, anxiety, and delirium. In fact, the herbal remedy was thought to relieve a person’s hallucinations of frightening animals. The same remedy was believed to help strengthen concentration as well.
At one time Aethusa cynapium found popularity as a digestive aid. Its use was oftentimes focused on treating young children. For example, fool’s parsley would usually be prescribed for cholera infantum, or the inability to digest milk, as well as for treating bouts of diarrhea. This common remedy also seemed to have more of a positive effect when used in summer or during hot weather. Fool’s parsley was occasionally used for treating vomiting fits as well.
Interestingly, the plant is only deemed poisonous when it’s taken or used fresh. Preparations made from the dried leaves of Aethusa cynapium are not considered harmful, as most of the plant’s toxins are destroyed through the drying process. Most problems occur when this plant is confused with regular parsley, picked fresh, and ingested. Even in small amounts, fool’s parsley can have grave effects.

Carcinosin was first introduced as a palliative remedy for the treatment of malignancy by Dr. J. T. KENT, Compton Burnett, and Dr. J . H . CLARKE.
The credit for bringing carcinosin into the limelight goes to Dr. W. Lee Templeton & Dr. Donald M. Foubister.
Dr. Templeton was the dean of the faculty of homeopathy and director of provings at Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. He carried out a proving of carcinosin in around 1952-53 by dividing provers into two groups. Group- I ,consisted 4 provers & 4 controls,Group-II consisted 5 provers & 4 controls. The drug was proved in 30 and 200 potencies.
Dr. Foubister was a physician in charge of the children’s department at the same institute. He observed two children born to a mother who was suffering from carcinoma of breast. Both these children shared similar characteristics like café-au-lait appearance, blue sclerotics, numerous moles over the body and both suffered from insomnia. So, out of curiosity foubester investigated 200 cases in his OPD, of kids with similar appearance for a history of cancer & found that there was a strong family history of cancer, diabetes mellitus, and tuberculosis.
The report of Templeton’s proving & the results of Foubister’s clinical findings were published in the British homeopathic journal in April 1954. vol.43,i.e in the same issue.
