A chalazion is a small swelling or lump on your eyelid caused by a blocked gland. Here are the common signs and symptoms of a chalazion:
1. Painless swelling of the eyelid: This is the primary sign of a chalazion.
2. Increased rate of tear production: This can cause your eyes to water.
3. Redness of the Conjunctiva: The membrane which covers the front surface of the eye and inner surface of the eyelid becomes red.
4. Mild tenderness of the eyelid: This can be felt especially when the eyelid is touched.
5. Heaviness of the eyelid: This is more common in cases of large chalazion or multiple chalazia on the same eyelid.
6. Blurred vision: Larger chalazia that push on the eyeball can cause blurred vision.
Please note that these symptoms are usually not painful. However, if a chalazion progresses to the point of inflammation, it can cause the area around it to become red, swollen, and painful.
